When you think about money, what comes up for you? Do you have a sense of peace and ease with money? Or is it a source of anxiety and frustration? Do you work really hard trying to get your money situation right? Thinking that when you have enough, then you will be happy?

Would you be willing to approach the topic of money with a playful curiosity? Would you consider, just for a moment, setting aside everything you’ve decided about money and look from another perspective?

Fifteen years ago, I was $187,000 in debt. Within a couple of years, I completely changed my money situation around and it keeps getting better every single day.

Through my journey of debt to millions, I have discovered a few simple, pragmatic tools that changed my entire financial reality. If you will use these tools, they can change yours too.

If this is something you desire, let’s go straight to the source. If money could talk, and if you were listening, here’s what it would say:

  • ‘Ask for me to show up’

You might have heard the saying, “Ask and you shall receive.” Have you ever truly asked for money? Have you ever truly been willing to receive it? Receiving is simply being willing to have infinite possibilities for something coming into your life, without a point of view about what, where, when, how or why it shows up.

The Universe desires to contribute to you. It’s really quite simple. Ask for what you desire. Play with asking, ‘Can I have the money now please?, Can I have the money now please?’ And see what shows up!

  • ‘I follow JOY’

So many of us think that once we have money, then we will be happy. The opposite is actually true. Money follows joy. Joy does not follow money.

To create a joyful financial reality with money, you have to give up everything you decided was significant about money, and you have to be willing to be joyful and to be happy, with or without money. What if you began to create your life as an irresistible invitation to money to come play with you? What points of view about money would you have to lose in order to create that with ease?

To lose those points of view and create a joyful financial reality, try this: For every point of view you notice about money say, “Interesting point of view. I have that point of view.” Ten times. What starts to happen is that your point of view loses its significance and becomes simply interesting. And, when it’s just interesting, you can easily choose another one. One that works FOR you and not against you!

  • ‘Be willing to have me’

Most people are willing to spend money but not so willing to have money. If you desire to increase your money, you’ve got to be willing to HAVE money.

Here are two things you can do to say to the Universe, “I am willing to have money!”

  1. Put aside 10% of everything that comes in.

Put 10% away of everything that comes into your life as an honoring of you. This is not a rainy day fund.  It’s money you have and watch it grow.  You can keep it in cash, you can keep it in a bank account, whatever is fun for you.  When you ‘save’ money, that means you intend to spend it.  This is different, because when you have money, you are making an investment in you and your future.
  2. Carry around the amount of cash you think a rich person would carry.
How different would you feel about your life if you saw a big wad of cash every time you opened your wallet or purse instead of a lot of blank space and some half-crunched up receipts.Practice. Carry around the amount of cash that you think a wealthy person would carry. Because I travel a lot, it’s fun for me to have my cash is in different currencies. I also have gold coin worth about $2000 in my purse.  It makes me happy to have it there.  It makes me feel abundant.   What would be fun for you?

The Universe desires to contribute to you and that includes money. You can start today creating the change you desire. Do you dare?
